Echo Courses

We have arranged our courses into a series of three one-day courses together forming a series of modules. THe core emphasis in this course is to offer as much hands-on echo experience as possible in an affordable package for those wanting to either take their first steps in, or strengthen their echocardiographic skills. Our focus on these courses is for the acquisition of the core practical skills and knowledge required to perform basic paediatric echocardiography competently.

Beginner’s Echocardiography course

This first module focusses on normal cardiac anatomy, use of the equipment, and acquisition of the basic echocardiographic views. Half the day is set aside for practical experience, using our echo simulator and on scanning children with known normal and abnormal hearts.

Intermediate Echocardiography course

In this course we expand on the skills acquired in the basic course, with the introduction of the practical aspects of doppler echocardiography. Following a series of short lectures on the more common congenital cardiac lesions, we then proceed onto an afternoon of hands-on time scanning children with known cardiac defects. Those wishing to brush on on more basic skills will again have the opportunity to scan children with normal hearts and practice on our simulator.

Advanced Echocardiography Course

This final module is still under development. Details will be announced on this website when the overall theme and aims have been set,
